The Tignor Group, P.A. is a privately held, full‑service professional association providing comprehensive architecture, engineering, and planning services across Florida. Our work is driven by a commitment to creating spaces that enhance their sites, strengthen surrounding communities, and inspire the people who use them. Since our incorporation in 1990, we have proudly served Southwest Florida, delivering high‑quality professional services rooted in experience, integrity, and innovation.

For more than 30 years, our offices have been part of downtown Sarasota. We are currently located at 1255 South Tamiami Trail.

Flood Studies

Our expertise in FEMA flood revisions is unmatched. Since securing the first local Letter of Map Revision (LOMR) in 1992, we have led coastal flood map revision efforts across Florida for more than 25 years. Our team has successfully obtained LOMRs in coastal communities on both the Gulf and Atlantic coasts, building a track record few firms can rival.

Our flood‑related services extend beyond LOMRs to include Conditional Letters of Map Revision (CLOMRs), Letters of Map Amendment (LOMAs), and comprehensive consultation on project siting relative to flood zones and National Flood Insurance Program requirements. With licensed engineers and architects on staff, we guide clients through the full design and permitting process for habitable structures—always focused on achieving the greatest possible relief from building code constraints and flood insurance costs.

Our coastal modeling capabilities include wave crest analysis, scour relief modeling, erosion modeling, and a full range of wave studies for projects regulated under the Florida Department of Environmental Protection’s Coastal Construction Control Line program.

In the Sarasota–Manatee region, no firm has processed more private FEMA mapping revisions than The Tignor Group, P.A.

Stan Tignor, N.C.A.R.B.

Stan Tignor, N.C.A.R.B., President of The Tignor Group, is responsible for the firm’s architectural and planning work. For over 30 years, Stan has been designing high quality structures for southwest Florida. A native of Richmond, VA, Stan began his architecture career in Sarasota, FL after graduating from Virginia Tech. A longtime-member of the American Institute of Architects, Stan obtained his architecture license from the State of Florida in 1986.

Kristy Tignor, P.E.

Kristy Tignor, P.E., Vice President of The Tignor Group, P.A., is responsible for the firm’s general civil and coastal engineering activities.  A native of Sarasota, Kristy combines almost 30 years of engineering experience with vast knowledge of the community to perform effectively for her clients. Kristy’s specific technical experience has been in the areas of coastal, marine, planning, drainage design, site and environmental design and permitting, transportation design, and construction coordination. Special expertise is in coastal modeling, revetment, seawall, dredging, and dock design and permitting.

After graduating with a Bachelor of Engineering degree from Vanderbilt University, Kristy obtained her Masters in Business Administration degree from the University of South Florida. Kristy joined The Tignor Group, P.A., with her husband, Stan, in 1989.  Kristy obtained her Professional Engineering license from the State of Florida in 1989.
